Postdoctoral Fellow for IMAGEOMICS Project
The Barcelona Institute for Global Health (ISGlobal) is a cutting-edge institute addressing global public health challenges through research, translation into policy and education. ISGlobal has a broad portfolio in communicable and non-communicable diseases including environmental and climate determinants, and applies a multidisciplinary scientific approach ranging from the molecular to the population level. Research is organized in five programs: Climate, Air Pollution, Nature and Urban Health; Environment and Health over the Lifecourse; Global Viral and Bacterial Infections; Malaria and Neglected Parasitic Diseases and Maternal Child and Reproductive Health. ISGlobal is accredited with the Severo Ochoa distinction, a seal of excellence of the Spanish Science Ministry.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
ISGlobal is seeking a Post-Doctoral fellow with medical background who is interested in developing the strategy and protocol for the implementation of long-term follow-up of breast cancer patients within the European IMAGEOMICS project. The overall project goal is to identify molecular, cellular and imaging signatures of breast cancer heterogeneity to improve personalized therapeutic strategies for synergistic treatment combinations. One of the ambitious goals of the project is to identify patients (with specific biomarkers) with a predicted favourable response to combined radiotherapy and immunotherapy. At ISGlobal, the candidate will be responsible for exploring and analysing public repository, databases and the literature to contribute to understand how radiotherapy influences immunogenic heterogeneity and to build a protocol for optimal patient stratification and follow-up, which will be tested in clinical environment.
The candidate will work as a member of the Medical Radiation Group lead by Dr Isabelle Thierry-Chef in close collaboration with members of the Bioinformatics Research Group in Epidemiology (BRGE) lead Juan R Gonzalez, both groups being integrated into the Environment and Health over the Lifecourse research programme that aims to conduct high-quality integrative research to expand knowledge on the causes and mechanisms of non-communicable diseases (NCDs).
This project has received funding from the European Union's European Atomic Energy Community (‘EC-Euratom’) under Grant Agreement No 101061037 — PIANOFORTE_IMAGEOMICS.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The main tasks will be to review the state of knowledge on the treatment protocols together with the current understanding of the molecular, cellular and imaging signatures of breast cancer heterogeneity to improve personalized therapeutic strategies for synergistic treatment combinations. The successful candidate is expected to participate in the development of a study protocol to identify patients with predictive positive response to combined radiotherapy and immunotherapy and to initiate long-term follow-up of the patients.
Good integration in the team environment is essential with good communication and interpersonal skills.
