The Barcelona Institute for Global Health (ISGlobal) is a cutting-edge institute addressing global public health challenges through research, translation into policy and education. WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

ISGlobal is seeking a full-time LAB TECHNICIAN for the MISTRAL project interested in taking over and managing activities involving the evaluation of the impact of the antiretroviral therapy in the gut bacterial resistome of HIV-infected patients.
The tasks will be developed in the microbiology department and research laboratory at Centre Esther Koplowitz (CEK).

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Set up and develop the experimental tasks within the Work package “Impact of the antiretroviral therapy in the gut bacterial resistome by isolating the multidrug-resistant organisms and describing its phenotypic profile.

SPECIFIC DUTIES

To support the research team in the evaluation of the impact of the antiretroviral treatment in the gut bacterial resistome of HIV-infected patients will be done through different methodologies:

• Isolation and characterization of the resistance phenotype of bacteria recovered from clinical samples using different techniques.
• Study and compare the gut phenotypic resistome of people living with HIV with different treatments.

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE / QUALIFICATIONS

• Previous laboratory experience in the microbiology field. Experience in antimicrobial resistance will be highly appreciated.

SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS

• Five-years experience in a microbiology research laboratory

LANGUAGE LEVEL

• Proficiency in English
• Catalan and Spanish will be appreciated

CONDITIONS

• Duration: 7.5 months

• Salary: Technician II A (30.055€ gross annual)

SELECTION PROCESS

The selection process is designed in two phases:
1- Interview phase of a technical nature, with the team that requires the incorporation. To assess the person's skills and CV.
2 - Meeting with HR with the finalist(s) to finish assessing the profile and discuss contractual and institutional issues.

If needed any technical test could be passed. A Psychological Competency Evaluation Test will be required for the structural or transversal positions.

In accordance with the OTM-R principles, a gender-balanced recruitment panel is formed for every vacancy at the beginning of the process.
