Nurse for Dengue Travel Risk Project (4 hours a week)

The department of Tropical Medicine and International Health of Hospital Clinic Barcelona which was founded in 1985. It is part of the CSUR network (Centers, Services and Reference Units of the Spanish Health System), offering services to other hospitals/health centres that require specialised travel medicine consulting, scientific support and training. The department is also a reference centre for pathogens that require high isolation.
The average of visits to the post-travel Clinic is 1500-2000 visits per year. The Department of International Health has one of the pre-travel clinic in Spain with the largest number of travellers, receiving almost 20.000 visits since 2009, with staff well experienced in Travel Assessment.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
ISGlobal is seeking a nurse who is interested in taking over and managing activities of the project Dengue Travel Risk. The overall project goal is to determine the incidence of asymptomatic dengue infections in travelers and develop predictive algorithms based on machine learning, to mitigate the risk of introduction of dengue in non-endemic areas where Aedes albopictus has been established.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- The main responsibilities for this position include recruiting participants, collecting study samples and data, completing Case Report Forms (CRFs), and entering data into the study database.

SKILLS
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to ensure clear and compassionate interaction with study participants and teamwork.
- Ability to coordinate logistics, manage documentation, and follow study protocols meticulously.
- Experience in blood sample collection and venipuncture.
- Comfort with electronic data capture (EDC) systems and study-specific software.
- Problem resolution.
- Learning capacity.

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE / QUALIFICATIONS
- Registered Nurse and valid license to practice nursing in the country.
- At least 1 year of clinical experience in a hospital, primary care, or outpatient setting.
- Documented training and experience in venipuncture and blood specimen handling.
- Patient recruitment and informed consent processes for clinical research.
- Travel medicine, infectious diseases, or tropical medicine is highly desirable.
- Working with international travelers or migrant populations is an asset.
PREFERRED TRAINING AND/OR EXPERIENCE
- Experience with dengue or arboviral surveillance, or participation in vaccine/prevention trials, is a strong plus.
- GCP (Good Clinical Practice) training certificate or willingness to complete prior to onboarding.
- Familiarity with dengue diagnosis and prevention, including travel-related health risks and WHO-recommended strategies.
- Completion of a course or workshop in travel health nursing
LANGUAGE LEVEL
- Proficiency in Catalan, English, and Spanish.
CONDITIONS
- Duration: 4 months
- Starting date: 15/05/2025
- Contract Type: Part time ( 4 hours per week)
- Salary: Tech II A (30.055€ gross annual)

SELECTION PROCESS
The selection process is designed in two phases:
1- Interview phase of a technical nature, with the team that requires the incorporation. To assess the person's skills and CV.
2 - Meeting with HR with the finalist(s) to finish assessing the profile and discuss contractual and institutional issues.
If needed any technical test could be passed. A Psychological Competency Evaluation Test will be required for the structural or transversal positions.
In accordance with the OTM-R principles, a gender-balanced recruitment panel is formed for every vacancy at the beginning of the process.
