WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
ISGlobal is looking for a Digital Innovation Manager to be part of the Innovation Department to perform Knowledge and Technology Transfer activities for innovative research projects with health-related social and economic impact.
The Digital Innovation Manager will be a pivotal figure in driving the digital transformation and innovation agenda of the research center, specifically focusing on the translation of cutting-edge digital health research and technologies into impactful solutions. This role is crucial for identifying, developing, and facilitating the transfer of digital innovations from the lab to practical applications, fostering collaborations, and securing strategic partnerships to maximize the societal and economic impact of our health research.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform Knowledge, Technology transfer activities in the ISGlobal Innovation department and other related activities.
SPECIFIC DUTIES
- Technology Scouting & Assessment:
- Proactively identify and evaluate emerging digital health technologies, software, platforms, and data-driven solutions within the research center that have commercialization or societal impact potential.
- Conduct thorough due diligence and IP landscape analysis for digital innovations.
- Assess the readiness levels (TRL - Technology Readiness Levels, specifically for digital/software) of digital health technologies for transfer.
- Knowledge & IP Management for Digital Assets:
- Work closely with researchers to identify and protect intellectual property (IP) related to digital health innovations (e.g., software, algorithms, datasets, digital biomarkers).
- Develop strategies for managing, licensing, and disseminating digital IP, including open-source considerations where appropriate for public health impact.
- Ensure compliance with data privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR) in all digital innovation and transfer activities.
- Commercialization & Translation Pathways:
- Develop and execute comprehensive strategies for the commercialization and uptake of digital health innovations, including licensing, spin-off creation, collaborative development agreements, and strategic partnerships.
- Prepare compelling technology briefs, executive summaries, and pitches for potential licensees, investors, and collaborators.
- Negotiate and manage technology transfer agreements (e.g., licensing agreements, material transfer agreements, data sharing agreements) specifically for digital assets.
- Partnership & Ecosystem Development:
- Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with industry partners, healthcare providers, digital health companies, venture capitalists, and other stakeholders to facilitate technology transfer and adoption.
- Represent the research center at relevant digital health innovation forums, conferences, and networking events.
- Facilitate the creation of strategic alliances and consortia focused on digital health innovation.
- Innovation Program Management and Training:
- Support digital innovation projects from conception to implementation, ensuring alignment with organizational strategic goals and market needs.
- Develop and implement internal programs to foster a culture of digital innovation and entrepreneurship among researchers.
- Provide guidance, training and mentorship to researchers on digital innovation best practices, intellectual property, and translation pathways.
- Impact Measurement & Reporting:
- Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) for digital technology transfer activities (e.g., number of licenses, spin-offs, collaborative projects, revenue generated, societal impact).
- Prepare regular reports on the progress and impact of digital innovation and technology transfer initiatives.

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE / QUALIFICATIONS
- Advanced degree in a relevant field (e.g., Health or Life Sciences, Public Health, Biomedical Engineering, Computer Science, Health Informatics, Business Administration with a focus on Tech Transfer).
- MBA or business/science postgraduate studies will be a plus.
- Experience working in a health research institute, hospital, pharmaceutical/biotech industry, or venture capital setting.
SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS
- Understanding of digital health technologies: AI/ML in healthcare, telemedicine platforms, wearables, digital therapeutics, big data analytics, blockchain in health, etc.
- Proven experience in technology transfer, intellectual property management, and commercialization, specifically with digital assets or software, ideally within a research or healthcare environment.
- Demonstrable experience in negotiating and managing technology transfer agreements.
- Excellent networking and relationship-building skills with industry, academia, and healthcare stakeholders.
- Project management expertise with a track record of bringing innovative digital solutions to market.
- Knowledge of regulatory pathways for digital health products (e.g., medical device regulations for software, data protection laws).
- Strong communication and presentation skills, capable of articulating technical information to diverse audiences.
- Entrepreneurial mindset with a results-driven approach.
LANGUAGE LEVEL
- Proficiency in English, Spanish and Catalan (C1-MCER).

SELECTION PROCESS
The selection process is designed in two phases:
1- Interview phase of a technical nature, with the team that requires the incorporation. To assess the person's skills and CV.
2 - Meeting with HR with the finalist(s) to finish assessing the profile and discuss contractual and institutional issues.
If needed any technical test could be passed. A Psychological Competency Evaluation Test will be required for the structural or transversal positions.
In accordance with the OTM-R principles, a gender-balanced recruitment panel is formed for every vacancy at the beginning of the process.
