The Barcelona Institute for Global Health (ISGlobal) is a cutting-edge institute addressing global public health challenges through research, translation into policy and education. WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

ISGlobal is looking for a motivated laboratory technician to support the daily development of projects linked to BISC cohort.

The candidate will be the responsible of biological samples of the BiSC cohort.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• The candidate will be the responsible of biological samples of the BiSC cohort.

SPECIFIC DUTIES

• The work will consist of:
  • Preparing the material for sample collection
  • Processing and storage of biological samples (placenta, stools and urine)
  • Digitalizing the forms containing information about biological samples.
  • Updating the biorepository informatics platform.
  • Preparing aliquots of samples and shipments for projects.

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE / QUALIFICATIONS

• Laboratory Technician Associate's degree (“Ciclo formativo de grado superior –Técnico superior de laboratorio”) or equivalent.
• Degree on Biology or equivalent
• Experience in molecular biology will be valued

SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS

• Prior knowledge on:
  • Basic laboratory skills (pipetting, centrifuging, etc.)
  • Data management, Excel and R environment

LANGUAGE LEVEL

• Catalan, Spanish and English written and spoken.

SELECTION PROCESS

The selection process is designed in two phases:
1- Interview phase of a technical nature, with the team that requires the incorporation. To assess the person's skills and CV.
2 - Meeting with HR with the finalist(s) to finish assessing the profile and discuss contractual and institutional issues.

If needed any technical test could be passed. A Psychological Competency Evaluation Test will be required for the structural or transversal positions.

In accordance with the OTM-R principles, a gender-balanced recruitment panel is formed for every vacancy at the beginning of the process.
