Medical Research Fellow
The Barcelona Institute for Global Health (ISGlobal) is a cutting-edge institute addressing global public health challenges through research, translation into policy and education. WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
ISGlobal is looking for amedical research fellow with the following requirements:
- Medical doctor with completed specialty in pediatrics, family medicine, internal medicine or preventive medicine.
- Training and/or interest in International Health and infectious diseases.
- Experience in epidemiologic research and research projects, preferably in Global Health related topics.
- Position based in Mozambique (Quelimane)
- Skills in epidemiological research.
- Interest on strategies to reduce child mortality, developing diagnostic and preventive interventions, clinical trials on antimalarial therapies, particularly with a global perspective.
- Potential interest in pursuing a PhD
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- To contribute in the design, execution and analysis of a variety of the CHAMPS project related activities in Mozambique (Manhiça and Quelimane): participation in clinical panels for ascertainment causes of death, clinical extraction, proposal and protocol development, statistical analysis and scientific writing.
- To support to local staff for the implementation of the projects’ activities.
- To support implementation and supervise activities of clinical trials such as SMAART-MAP.
SPECIFIC DUTIES
- Participate, supervise and conduct CHAMPS clinical activities related to Mozambique site.
- Participate on scientific writing activities for articles, proposals and protocols.

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE / QUALIFICATIONS
- Medical doctor with completed specialty in pediatrics, family medicine, internal medicine or preventive medicine.
- Experience in Global Health and Clinical Epidemiology research.
- Competencies and skills: Communication, Teamwork and collaboration, Commitment, Proactivity, Integrity, Critical and Analytical thinking.
- High level of English and basic knowledge of Portuguese
- Experience in field implementation activities in low and middle countries environment. Experience in statistical analysis of study results.
- Scientific writing skills.
SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS

SELECTION PROCESS
The selection process is designed in two phases:
1- Interview phase of a technical nature, with the team that requires the incorporation. To assess the person's skills and CV.
2 - Meeting with HR with the finalist(s) to finish assessing the profile and discuss contractual and institutional issues.
If needed any technical test could be passed. A Psychological Competency Evaluation Test will be required for the structural or transversal positions.
In accordance with the OTM-R principles, a gender-balanced recruitment panel is formed for every vacancy at the beginning of the process. After reviewing the content of the applications, the panel will start the interviews, with at least one technical and one administrative interview. A profile questionnaire as well as a technical exercise may be required during the process.
