New Media Artist – AMR Awareness Initiative (ReAcció Project - Aj. de Barcelona)
The Barcelona Institute for Global Health (ISGlobal) is a cutting-edge institute addressing global public health challenges through research, translation into policy and education. ISGlobal has a broad portfolio in communicable and non-communicable diseases including environmental and climate determinants, and applies a multidisciplinary scientific approach ranging from the molecular to the population level. Research is organized in five programs: Climate, Air Pollution, Nature and Urban Health; Environment and Health over the Lifecourse; Global Viral and Bacterial Infections; Malaria and Neglected Parasitic Diseases and Maternal Child and Reproductive Health. ISGlobal is accredited with the Severo Ochoa distinction, a seal of excellence of the Spanish Science Ministry.
Within the framework of its AMR Initiative, ISGlobal is launching ReAcció: Art, reflection and collective response to Antimicrobial Resistance, a collaborative art-science project to raise awareness about antimicrobial resistance (AMR), often described as the “silent pandemic”.
To coincide with World AMR Awareness Week 2025 (WAAW, 18–24 November 2025), ISGlobal, thanks to the support of the Barcelona City Council, invites two new media artists (or artistic collectives) to co-create an immersive installation in the public space. This temporary artistic work will combine creativity and science to engage the citizens in reflecting on AMR, antibiotic use, and the “One Health” connection between human, animal, and environmental health.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
We are seeking 2 artists or collectives with expertise in new media, immersive or interactive installations, audiovisuals, or experimental design, who will collaborate with ISGlobal’s AMR initiative team, to:
- Design and co-create an immersive and interactive public installation on AMR and One Health.
- Translate complex scientific concepts in the field of microbiology, AMR and antibiotic consumption into engaging artistic language.
- Work collaboratively with scientists and scientific outreach experts.
- Develop the installation to be mounted in a high-traffic area of Barcelona (square, park, or cultural space) during the WAAW25 (18th to 24th of november 2025).
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conceptualise and design the immersive installation in collaboration with the ISGlobal’s AMR initiative team.
- Select artistic media, formats, and technologies for the installation.
- Support the production, logistics, and assembly in public space, considering the allocated budget.
- Ensure accessibility and engagement for the general public.

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE / QUALIFICATIONS
- Proven experience in new media art, installation art, or interactive/immersive art projects.
- Previous collaborations across disciplines (science, technology, design, community projects) are highly valued.
- Knowledge of audiovisual tools, projection, or interactive media.
- Ability to work within defined timeframes (September–November 2025).
SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS
- Creativity, initiative, and teamwork skills.
- Commitment to co-creation and interdisciplinary dialogue.
- Advanced communication skills in English, Spanish and/or Catalan.
LANGUAGE LEVEL
- Proficiency in Catalan, English, and Spanish.
CONDITIONS
- Duration: Approx 100 hours per artist/collective (September – November 2025)
- Starting date: Sep 2025
- Exhibition dates: 18–24 November 2025 (World AMR Awareness Week)
- Remuneration: Paid (1700€ per artist -before taxes-)
- Contract: No. Billing for service provision, temporary collaboration

SELECTION PROCESS
The selection process is designed in two phases:
1- Interview phase of a technical nature, with the team that requires the incorporation. To assess the person's skills and CV.
2 - Meeting with HR with the finalist(s) to finish assessing the profile and discuss contractual and institutional issues.
If needed any technical test could be passed. A Psychological Competency Evaluation Test will be required for the structural or transversal positions.
In accordance with the OTM-R principles, a gender-balanced recruitment panel is formed for every vacancy at the beginning of the process. After reviewing the content of the applications, the panel will start the interviews, with at least one technical and one administrative interview. A profile questionnaire as well as a technical exercise may be required during the process.
