Physician and Researcher in the field of travel medicine

ISGlobal and the Hospital Clinic of Barcelona are looking for a candidate research physician specializing in internal medicine or family medicine. This position is ideal for a candidate looking for a joint position combining both clinical work and research in international health.
The candidate will be part of the clinical team working at the International Health Department in the Hospital Clinic and work nationally and internationally on the diagnosis and management of travel-related diseases.
The candidate will collaborate in research activities in the field of travel medicine, building on existing collaborations. Responsibilities include developing strategic research questions, applying for and procuring research grants, designing and implementing research protocols, summarizing findings and publishing results in peer-reviewed journals.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
ISGlobal is seeking a motivated research physician with a background in internal medicine or family medicine. The ideal candidate will:
- Have proven clinical experience in the management of infectious and travel-related diseases.
- Demonstrate interest and skills in research methodology, including protocol design, data analysis, and scientific writing.
- Show capacity for leadership, project management, and multidisciplinary collaboration.
- Be fluent in English (spoken and written); proficiency in Spanish and/or Catalan is an asset.
- Be committed to combining clinical responsibilities with research activities in a dynamic academic environment.xxx
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide clinical care for patients attending the International Health Department at Hospital Clinic.
- Participate in research activities related to travel and global health.
- Collaborate with colleagues in teaching, training, and knowledge-sharing activities.
- Contribute to the development of collaborative projects at national and international levels.
SPECIFIC DUTIES
- Attend patients with travel-related health problems in outpatient consultations.
- Take part in data collection and support the implementation of ongoing research studies.
- Assist in preparing presentations, reports, and publications.
- Support training activities for students and residents when needed.
- Collaborate with the team in grant applications and project activities.

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE / QUALIFICATIONS
- Medical Doctor with specialization in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine.
- Some experience in the care of patients with infectious or travel-related conditions.
- Interest in research and willingness to develop skills in study design and scientific writing.
- Good communication skills and ability to work in a team.
SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS
- Medical Doctor with specialization in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine.
- Experience or knowledge in Global Health and/or travel medicine.
- Other medical or research backgrounds may be considered if the candidate shows strong interest and motivation in the field.
LANGUAGE LEVEL
- Proficiency in English.
- Knowledge of Spanish and/or Catalan will be considered an advantage
CONDITIONS
- Duration: 6 months - renewable
- Starting date: Octuber 2025
- Contract Type: Part time (10 hours per week)
- Salary: 10.693 € gross annual (10h/week, equivalent to Medical Research Fellow B full-time 42.771 €)

SELECTION PROCESS
The selection process is designed in two phases:
1- Interview phase of a technical nature, with the team that requires the incorporation. To assess the person's skills and CV.
2 - Meeting with HR with the finalist(s) to finish assessing the profile and discuss contractual and institutional issues.
If needed any technical test could be passed. A Psychological Competency Evaluation Test will be required for the structural or transversal positions.
In accordance with the OTM-R principles, a gender-balanced recruitment panel is formed for every vacancy at the beginning of the process.
