Data Analyst/Statistician for International Health department

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
ISGlobal is looking for a proactive Data Analyst/Statistician with experience in epidemiology and/or clinical trials to provide statistical and data‐management support across multiple projects within the International Health Service at Hospital Clínic de Barcelona (https://www.clinicbarcelona.org/en/service/international-health). You will contribute to study design, database setup, data cleaning, statistical analysis and data reporting. Working closely with multidisciplinary teams, you will ensure methodological rigor, timely deliverables and data-driven insights that advance our global-health objectives.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support Statistical Planning: Assist in defining and reviewing the statistical framework, including sample size calculations and analysis schedules.
- Contribute Methodological Expertise: Provide statistical input on study documents, help troubleshoot analysis questions and support the preparation of reports and publications.
- Maintain Data Infrastructure: Contribute to ensuring data integrity, quality, and accessibility for analyses.
- Document Processes: Write and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs), protocols, and documentation to support reproducible workflows.
- Provide Data Insights: Create basic data visualizations and perform exploratory analyses to support decision-making.
SPECIFIC DUTIES
- Protocol and Documentation Support: Draft and update statistical sections of clinical protocols, technical appendices, and SOPs to ensure alignment with regulatory and methodological standards.
- Data Preparation and Analysis: Develop and run reproducible R, Python, and SQL scripts for data cleaning, transformation, and exploratory analysis.
- Statistical Programming: Contribute to routine analyses such as summary tables and regression models, and assist in compiling interim and final statistical reports with clear, well-documented code.
- Data Visualization: Produce clear, informative visualizations to communicate key findings and support decision-making.
- Collaboration and Review: Participate in statistical review of study documents, contribute methodological input cross-functional meetings, and respond to analysis-related queries from clinical and operational teams.

SKILLS
- Advanced Statistical Methodology: Proven experience applying statistical techniques (e.g. linear and multiple regression, tree-based models such as XGBoost or Decision Trees, survival analysis, longitudinal data analysis) to support insights in clinical, epidemiological or related research settings.
- Programming Proficiency: Expert-level skills in Python (pandas, NumPy, SciPy, scikit-learn, matplotlib, seaborn), and strong working knowledge of R (tidyverse, R, Markdown, Shiny), and SQL.
- Communication & Collaboration: Ability to translate statistical findings into clear recommendations for both technical and non‐technical audiences.

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE / QUALIFICATIONS
- Educational Background: Degree or Master in Statistics, Biostatistics, Mathematics, Epidemiology, Biological Science or a related quantitative discipline.
- Professional Experience: At least three years of experience in data analysis, data engineering, or statistician. At least one year of experience in epidemiological research or in clinical trials. With experience in scientific research and publications preferred.
- Language Proficiency: Fluent in English and Spanish, both written and spoken. Additional languages are an asset.

- Duration: 6 months + 6 months

- Salary: Technician II A (30.055€ gross annual)

SELECTION PROCESS
The selection process is designed in two phases:
1- Interview phase of a technical nature, with the team that requires the incorporation. To assess the person's skills and CV.
2 - Meeting with HR with the finalist(s) to finish assessing the profile and discuss contractual and institutional issues.
If needed any technical test could be passed. A Psychological Competency Evaluation Test will be required for the structural or transversal positions.
In accordance with the OTM-R principles, a gender-balanced recruitment panel is formed for every vacancy at the beginning of the process.
