The department of Tropical Medicine and International Health of Hospital Clinic Barcelona which was founded in 1985. It is part of the CSUR network (Centers, Services and Reference Units of the Spanish Health System), offering services to other hospitals/health centres that require specialised travel medicine consulting, scientific support and training. The department is also a reference centre for pathogens that require high isolation.
The average of visits to the post-travel Clinic is 1500-2000 visits per year. The Department of International Health has one of the pre-travel clinic in Spain with the largest number of travellers, receiving almost 20.000 visits since 2009, with staff well experienced in Travel Assessment.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
ISGlobal is seeking a medical doctor with clinical and research experience in malaria who is interested in taking over and managing activities of the project on the development of new antimalarials and surveillance of antimalarial drug resistance in Africa. The overall project goal is to assess the safety and efficacy of a new antimalarial component in clinical trials conducted across different countries in sub-Saharan Africa.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The main responsibilities for this position include developing, discussing and reviewing research protocols and other study documents, coordinating different study teams, organizing and leading meetings with investigators and conduct study site visits.

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE / QUALIFICATIONS
Medical Doctor, specialized in internal medicine or infectious diseases, with valid license.
Philosophical Doctor or equivalent research experience
At least 5 years of clinical experience in a hospital, primary care, or outpatient setting in tropical or travel medicine., especially in taking care of patients with symptomatic malaria.
Documented research experience in malaria
Prior experience in clinical trials.
Master on research methodology, epidemiology, biostatistics or clinical trials.
Working experience in healthcare settings in malaria-endemic regions.
SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS
GCP (Good Clinical Practice) training certificate or willingness to complete prior to onboarding.
Principal investigator of at least one research project in malaria.
Experience leading multicenter multinational research projects.
Clinical and research experience in other travel-related or poverty-related febrile illnesses is an asset.
LANGUAGE LEVEL
Proficiency in Catalan, English, and Spanish.

SELECTION PROCESS
The selection process is designed in two phases:
1- Interview phase of a technical nature, with the team that requires the incorporation. To assess the person's skills and CV.
2 - Meeting with HR with the finalist(s) to finish assessing the profile and discuss contractual and institutional issues.
If needed any technical test could be passed. A Psychological Competency Evaluation Test will be required for the structural or transversal positions.
In accordance with the OTM-R principles, a gender-balanced recruitment panel is formed for every vacancy at the beginning of the process.
