Data Manager (Child Survival Programme)

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
ISGlobal is seeking a Data Manager to lead the design, implementation, and maintenance of the data management systems for the Child Survival Programme, supported by Fundación "la Caixa". The successful candidate will ensure the integrity, security, and quality of all data generated within the programme (including vaccine coverage metrics and impact data related to Gavi) to support evidence-based decision-making and scientific reporting.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & SPECIFIC DUTIES
Data System Design: Develop and manage robust databases and data collection tools for the programme’s activities.
Quality Control: Implement data cleaning procedures, validation checks, and quality assurance protocols to ensure high-quality datasets.
Reporting: Generate periodic data reports and visualizations to monitor programme progress and provide the necessary data for reporting to Fundación "la Caixa".
Support to Analysis: Assist researchers and the finance team in extracting and preparing datasets for scientific analysis and impact evaluation.
Data Security: Ensure all data handling follows institutional security policies and international ethical standards.

SKILLS
Technical Expertise: Advanced skills in SQL, R, or other data manipulation languages.
Problem-Solving: Ability to troubleshoot database issues and optimize data workflows.
Attention to Detail: Meticulous approach to data cleaning and documentation (Data Management Plans).
Collaboration: Ability to work with multidisciplinary teams (researchers, finance, and clinicians).

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE / QUALIFICATIONS
Education: University degree in Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, or a Health Science field with strong quantitative training. A Master’s degree in Data Science or Clinical Data Management is highly preferred.
Experience (Essential): * Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in data management for research or public health projects.
Proficiency in data management software (e.g., REDCap, OpenClinica) and statistical programming (R, Stata, or Python).
Experience in designing electronic Case Report Forms (eCRFs) and data validation plans.
Experience (Desirable): * Previous experience working with large-scale immunization data or international health consortia.
Knowledge of GDPR and data protection regulations in the context of biomedical research.
LANGUAGE LEVEL
English: Advanced proficiency (C1) is required for technical documentation and international collaboration.
Spanish and Catalan: Full fluency.
CONDITIONS
Duration: 8 months (renewable based on project needs).
Starting date: 01/05/2026
Contract Type: Full time first two months, and part time next six months
Salary: Depending on candidate's experience and ISGlobal scales.

SELECTION PROCESS
The selection process is designed in two phases:
1- Interview phase of a technical nature, with the team that requires the incorporation. To assess the person's skills and CV.
2 - Meeting with HR with the finalist(s) to finish assessing the profile and discuss contractual and institutional issues.
If needed any technical test could be passed. A Psychological Competency Evaluation Test will be required for the structural or transversal positions.
In accordance with the OTM-R principles, a gender-balanced recruitment panel is formed for every vacancy at the beginning of the process. After reviewing the content of the applications, the panel will start the interviews, with at least one technical and one administrative interview. A profile questionnaire as well as a technical exercise may be required during the process.
