Postdoctoral Researcher in Social and Epidemiological Modelling, Health Impact Assessment Programme

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
ISGlobal is seeking a Postdoctoral candidate in epidemiological modelling for the Health Impact Assessment (HIA) research group, to manage activities in the project InequalRED. The overall goal of the HIA group is to evaluate the impact of public interventions on health outcomes. The HIA group is part of the ISGlobal Severo Ochoa (SO) programme which supports interdisciplinary science to improve the understanding of complex health problems. The group collaborates with other programmes to evaluate and model more effective interventions to advance the Sustainable Development Goals. HIA also aims to maximize its research impact through advocacy activities and dynamic dialogue with policy makers and programme managers.
Additionally, the postdoctoral candidate will collaborate with other HIA projects, and gain the benefit from the expertise of a wide network of researchers and modellers in Spain, Latin America, and Sub-Saharan Africa, where the HIA team has similar models and studies. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Conducting epidemiological, mathematical, and statistical modelling studies in projects led by the HIA group. Supporting the development of study proposals in the area of HIA.
SPECIFIC DUTIES
Design and conduct epidemiological, statistical, and mathematical modelling studies;
Perform microsimulation and individual-based model analyses;
Prepare scientific manuscripts;
Contribute to scientific discussion and participation in other activities in the HIA group;
Support the writing and organization of scientific proposals.

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE / QUALIFICATIONS
A PhD in Epidemiology, Public Health, Health Economics, or related fields OR a Degree in Epidemiology, Public Health, Health Economics, AND a PhD in Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, or related fields;
Expertise and previous experience in working with Epidemiological, Statistical, or Mathematical Modelling;
Experience with programming, preferably in R, Python, or Julia;
Demonstrated track record of achievements including publications in peer-reviewed journals.
LANGUAGE LEVEL
Required: written, reading, and spoken English.
Optional: writing and reading Spanish.
CONDITIONS
Contract: 1 year, with the possibility of extension to one more years based on satisfactory performance
Salary: According to ISGlobal internal salary scale
Work-Life Balance: 36 days off per year (23 vacation days + 13 personal days)
Start date: July 2026

SELECTION PROCESS
The selection process is designed in two phases:
1- Interview phase of a technical nature, with the team that requires the incorporation. To assess the person's skills and CV.
2 - Meeting with HR with the finalist(s) to finish assessing the profile and discuss contractual and institutional issues.
If needed any technical test could be passed. A Psychological Competency Evaluation Test will be required for the structural or transversal positions.
In accordance with the OTM-R principles, a gender-balanced recruitment panel is formed for every vacancy at the beginning of the process. After reviewing the content of the applications, the panel will start the interviews, with at least one technical and one administrative interview. A profile questionnaire as well as a technical exercise may be required during the process.
