Junior Core Facility Coordinator
The Barcelona Institute for Global Health (ISGlobal) is a cutting-edge institute addressing global public health challenges through research, translation into policy and education. ISGlobal has a broad portfolio in communicable and non-communicable diseases including environmental and climate determinants, and applies a multidisciplinary scientific approach ranging from the molecular to the population level. As part of its translational activities, ISGlobal offers scientific-technical services through several Core Facilities (CF) within the CERCA network, which leverage the cumulative know-how and expertise of its staff and infrastructure, including the Immune Response and Biomarker (IR&B) CF.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
ISGlobal is seeking a Junior Coordinator to support the day-to-day management of the CF IR&B (https://www.isglobal.org/en/immune-response-and-biomarkers) established by the Malaria Immunology Group that offers a wide range of laboratory analyses including antibodies and biomarkers, quantified by commercial and customized immunoassays (ELISA, Luminex) and Olink technologies. The overall functions are to organize the laboratory services, managing the communications with clients, suppliers and ISGlobal administrative and translation departments, and maintaining the ISO 9001 quality system processes, in coordination with the senior technicians and directors.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Coordination of the day to day activities of the CF IR&B at ISGlobal, ensuring high-quality service delivery, efficient communication with internal and external users, being the main point of contact with clients and suppliers, in coordination with the Directors and the technicians, and ISGlobal departments. Compliance with ISO 9001.
SPECIFIC DUTIES
Know the principles of the laboratory standard operating procedures (SOPs)
Respond to technical consultations of clients
Recommend appropriate techniques and kits for the client needs in consultation with technicians and Directors
Prepare budgets and manage timelines
Give instructions to clients for sample preparation and shipment
Coordinate laboratory analytical work with technicians
Coordinate procurement of materials with suppliers
Coordinate purchases processes and invoices with ISGlobal administration
Communicate and explain results of services to clients
Maintain service documentation and quality records in accordance with the ISO 9001 quality management system
Manage the satisfaction surveys and register of CF-related publications
Manage the social media of the CF
Other duties appropriate to the role as requested by the facilllity directors.

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE / QUALIFICATIONS
BSc and MSc in Biotechnology or related biological disciplines (biochemistry, biomedicine) with theoretical and practical laboratory background in protein expression, biomarker measurement, immunoassays and molecular biology techniques.
SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS
The purpose of the position is to coordinate and manage the day-to-day functioning of the CF, ensuring high standards of quality in sample analysis, data generation and reporting, while considering opportunities for innovation and expansion.
Experience/knowledge in basic molecular biology and immunological techniques including cell culture, PCR, protein expression, immunoassays and singleplex/multiplex biomarker quantification
Experience in handling biological samples and lab documentation.
Basic experience in data management, descriptive statistical analysis/presentation and results interpretation
Interest in quality management systems (ISO 9001), laboratory services
International mobility and experience in foreign laboratories will be an asset
Interest in translation, innovation, quality systems and entrepreneurship
Strong organization and multi-tasking skills
Professional attitude with attention to details
Capable of setting and meeting deadlines and delivering outputs to the required standards

Proficiency in Catalan, English, and Spanish.
CONDITIONS
Contract: 3 years with possible extension (full time position)
Salary: Tec II D
Work-Life Balance: 36 days off per year (23 vacation days + 13 personal days)
Start date: September 2026

SELECTION PROCESS
The selection process is designed in two phases:
1- Interview phase of a technical nature, with the team that requires the incorporation. To assess the person's skills and CV.
2 - Meeting with HR with the finalist(s) to finish assessing the profile and discuss contractual and institutional issues.
If needed any technical test could be passed. A Psychological Competency Evaluation Test will be required for the structural or transversal positions.
In accordance with the OTM-R principles, a gender-balanced recruitment panel is formed for every vacancy at the beginning of the process.
